Thailand 043.JPG

A Thai worker uses a brush to clean headstones in a cemetery filled with the graves of nearly 7,000 Australians and Englishmen who died during World War II in Kanchanaburi, Thailand. Over 16,000 allied P.O.W.s died of starvation, maltreatment and disease while building the bridge on the River Kwai and a 250- mile railway from Thailand into Burma. The Bridge on the River Kwai, known to many P.O.W.'s as the bridge of sorrow, attracts thousands of tourists yearly. (Jim Bryant Photo).....
