Mt. Rainier and surrounded clear cut lands that were sold to logging companies by Department of Natural Resources for timber harvest. Rainier is a heavily glaciated, dormant volcano surrounded by alpine parks. The 14,411 foot volcano which covers 228,480 acres was designated a National Park in 1899. Washington.
